subject matter

For this project we begun by looking at Gerhard Richters Atlas work. We then ried to find things that interested us and identify subject matter from the research we had done.

I begun by looking at photography and the manipulation of faces this lead me to taking my own photos and creating some collage pictures of my friends and then tried to take aspects of the photos into some painting.

After looking at the photos after there completion i decided what i really like about the images was the grids and how they shaped together. I then starter looking at artists like Sean Scully and Mark Rothko looking at how they might approach this subject matter. I then began to take some of the grids from the photos and started painting using colours taken from the city around me because i think the space that i inhabit always efects my work. Here is some of the paintings.

After doing these experimental paintings i fekt as though mysubject matter need to be investigated more so i went out to the city with my camera to see could i push the project on and i got some decent resultss i think.

The photographs once again became a big part of my project and for  the last week i just tried to make some paintings with masking tape that were a bit crisper. Alot inspired by Gareth Jenkins and Ronnie Hughs.
